The key to innovation is epibration
Innovation is a bit like eating healthy. Everybody is convinced that it’s important, but it’s not always clear what actually is healthy to eat and what isn’t. For example, you might choose to drink a juice instead of a soft drink, because that seems to bee the healthy option. But is it? And secretly we keep on eating those chocolates. When it comes to innovation it’s pretty similar. Innovation is a real buzzword. Everybody talks about it. But what do you actually need to do to be innovative? What works and what doesn’t?
More than 30 years of international research on innovation has delivered the best, qualitative knowledge we have on innovation. Although it’s the most qualitative knowledge we have on innovation in the world today, it’s still lying in the basements of our universities. With this keynote we want to lift the tip of the veil of this vast knowledge, with some evidence-based, interesting and surprising insights on innovation.
Michaël Van Damme is an experimental psychologist. In context of his PhD at Ghent University he studied and experimented on innovation and creativity in teams. Michaël has a unique expertise on the science of innovation in teams and organizations, group dynamics, charisma, humor and behavioural change. In 2015 Michaël started the Ghent University spin-off 'The Forge' with the mission to translate and apply evidence-based knowledge on innovation into the real world. Today The Forge consults many large companies on stimulating an innovative culture, based on scientific insights. Michaël is also an experienced Keynote speaker (eg. TEDx) and has years of experience in improv & stand up comedy. With this unique combination Michaël makes sure he can deliver qualitative knowledge in an original way.
